“POST 1: An intro to my WLE: January 6th”
I didn't go to Job Shadow Day because my mentor didn't have the time. My mentor does a lot of sewing and knitting. She makes shirts, pants,blankets and she can just about fix any thing on your clothes. I'm not going to work for an organization, she works for herself on her own time. She does have a studio where she works, her studio has everything you can possibly need for fashion. Her studio has walls and walls of fabric and she has numerous sewing machines.
When I start my internship I'm going to be doing a lot of knitting and sewing. I know I'm going to be learning different techniques about sewing and knitting everyday. I hope to accomplish an outfit and I hope to finish a blanket during my time with my mentor. I got this internship after I didn't get any other calls back from the other places I called, so getting this internship was like a last minute thing.
Post 3: My First Day January 27, 2010
Today, was a very calming day at my internship. I met up with her and we went to a knitting class to start the day off with. The class was exciting, I learned diffrent techniques and patterns. I also finished a hat there ! My WLE is not exactly how I thought it would be. At first i thought it was going to be very boring, but it actually turned out to be fun. Today, I thought i would just be doing what she told me too, but I got to knit.
I'm surprised my work environment was so peaceful and calming. Usually on shows, where they're designing clothes or anything else , it's very hectic, but this palce wasn't. I learned different things today involving making shirts,knitting patterns, and sewing. Next week, I want to move on to making a full outfit and maybe a few blankets made from different kinds of fabric.

Imagining what goes through my mentors head is kind of difficult, because she could be thinking anything about me or what I'm doing. As I walked through the door my mentor was thinking wow she dresses nice. My mentor probably wonders what I'm going to do next, I think she expects something new from me everytime I'm with her. The fact that I take directions well and that I'm a fast learner, I think impresses her. I haven't been at my internship long enough to disapoint her, I hope I won't.
I'm going to have to ask my mentor what she wants to learn from me, or get out of the whole experience. I think my mentor is very proud of me and she shares what I've made there and my goals for life and my internship project. ( very creative).

Some skills that I am developing at my WLE are learning to collaborate effectively. I'm working with other people and sometimes it can be a headache. I'm still very good at managing my projects effectively, I'm able to finish things that I've started with even if there is no deadline.
I'm using all the skills that i've learned at Impact even if I dont notice at the time that I'm using them, when I look back I realize that I've applied them to my daily life. My role as a student isn't that much different from my role as an intern. I feel the same, just a student in another enviroment. I'm still learning new things, but I want to be in a different enviroment to see what it's like to own my business.

Mastery of Knowledge- 4 because at my internship i'm learning something new everything. I learn different techniques, styles, patterns as to how to do something.

College Work Habits 4 because when I go to my internship I'm always prepared and I come with my materials. My mentor is very proud when I came back with a finish product.

So I read my peers blogs, they were all good to me. I read Bianca's Blog, Katrina's, Nick;s Montrel's blog. These blogs were amusing to me..i think this is an effective way when you are doing you r blog. Add a little humor.
very little people are doing their blogs. I think only a few people are doing their blogs because they might forget or they just don't want to. I can't really tell you if I'm learning more or less then other people at my WLE.
Now that i've been at my WLE for a while now I only get bored some days, but hey not everyday can be exciting. I didnt do anything new. = )

My working enviroment is about the same size as a class room. Most of the people that show up come at different times, but the amount of people never change. I wouldnt want to work at a really large building because then i would feel over whelmed, but I wouldnt want to be at a small building either because I woudn't feel free. My mentor is her own boss, so I guess she's happy that she doesnt have to report to anyone but herself. I would like to be my own boss wheni get my own business. If i'm my own boss i dont have to wake up so early.
I enjoy my my internship sometimes, but sometimes it gets pretty darn tiring. Its' like im repeationg Wednesdays' over and over again.

Today was a cool day. I'm starting my project, i'm going to donate hats to the kids at Childrens Hospital, i think this should be fun. Later on today I went to the studio and my mentor and I were organizing all her matrials. her studio is a mess, and will take a while to get that place together. Hopefully by the time this intern stuff is over we could be half way done with organizing everything. This could really benefit my mentor because if she gets everything in order she can really get her business going.
March 26, 2010 MAN O MAN.
So staying on track with this WLE gets annoying. Im tired of it. So far i think im on track, I know Im going to need to make up a few hours but its ok =) Today I spread the word about what I wanted to do for my project once again. Everyone seem pleased to help out, so i think i will do a good job..i have many supporters. I'm kind of doing a two in one project. I'm helping my workplace and others outside of my work place.

I did not go to my WLE because i needed to catch up on Nidas and Micahs paper. if i had went to my WLE i would have never finished or even gotten to work on their papers. Im glad i didnt go,it gave me the chance to really step it up in both classes by putting alot of work into it.
